 | Hit Parade: Beckwith Pops 5 Hits Monday, September 20th, 2010: 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book. In the Browns 9-4 win over Oceanside, John Beckwith was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Jack Murphy Stadium. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close." On his big day Beckwith delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats. J. Beckwith singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off B. Burns in the 9th. Thus far this year Beckwith has hit .307 with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs. |
